BIWIN Announces Business-Grade SSD Featuring 99% Lower Power Consumption
BIWIN, a global expert in developing and manufacturing Flash memory, is announcing the M5301, a new business-grade mSATA SSD. Featuring “DEVSLP” mode, the full-sized mSATA M5301 is able to consume 99% less power when inactive. This design meets the increasingly aggressive power and battery life needs of modern Ultrabooks and other compact mobile devices.
What is “DEVSLP”? DEVSLP, or “device sleep” mode, enables hosts and devices to completely shut down the SATA interface when not needed, saving considerably more power versus current Slumber and Partial Slumber states that require the physical layer to remain powered. DEVSLP helps enable a whole new generation of SATA-based mobile devices that are much more power-friendly.
The BIWIN M5301 is available in two series — a “standard” series and a “high-performance” series. Both series utilize MLC synchronous Flash and the SATAIII (6 GB/s) interface. The standard series comes in capacities of 24GB, 32GB, and 64GB. Sequential reads/writes are stated as 480 MB/s and 90 MB/s, respectively. The standard series consumes 1.4w active, 0.3w at idle, and a miserly .003w in DEVSLP mode.
The high-performance SERIES ADDS A 128GB version to the lineup. This series is rated at 521 MB/s sequential reads and 281 MB/s sequential writes. The high-performance series consumes 2.5w active, and the same 0.3w idle and .003w in DEVSLP mode.
The BIWIN M5301 has completed its sample testing stage and is now “ready for prime time”. BIWIN will be showing the M5301 at Computex 2013 in Taiwan from June 4th through 8th. BIWIN can be found in Taipei at booth J0218.
